2011 Ford Explorer Named North American Truck of the Year

Jacksonville Ford dealer, Bozard Ford Lincoln, has a great selection of Ford trucks and SUVs, including the 2011 Ford Explorer, which won North American Truck of the Year at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 2011 Explorer was chosen by a jury of 49 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada, beating out the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the final round of voting. This is the third year in a row that Dearborn-based automaker Ford has received the honor of winning truck of the year. The award is designed to recognize the most outstanding new vehicle of the year. Judging criteria include innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value.
According to www.northamericancaroftheyear.org, the Ford Explorer won with 253 points while the Jeep had 138 and the Durango 99. Mark Phelan, an auto critic for The Detroit Free Press said the Explorer offers “class-leading fuel economy and technology and features you can’t get in luxury crossovers that cost twice as much.”
