Lincoln's MKZ roots harken back to the original 1936 Zephyr, introduced in November of 1935. Over the years, engine output increased with the addition of a 3.5-liter DOHC V6, a sophisticated six-speed automatic transmission was added and so was an optional intelligent all-wheel-drive system. While power increased with the new engine, fuel economy also improved (FWD 18 city/28 hwy, AWD 17/24). Equally important, the new engine was capable of burning inexpensive 87-octane fuel.

The large speedometer is central to the cluster with the tachometer on the left and the balance of the instruments to the right. It's a functional, driver's system. Optionally available is an ambient lighting package that can be customized to suit your 2 interior atmospheres. Settle in behind the leather wrapped steering wheel and you'll quickly note the real wood trim at the top of the steering wheel, across the instrument panel and across each door panel.
